A New Land
by Robert(Bob) Moore
When I was a young man, England was my home
I lived there for 18 years, then began to roam
I was happy where I was, but dad made up his mind
time to leave Old England, a new place to live we’d find
Soon we all were sailing, across the Mediterranean Sea
heading to Australia, a new land, young and free
we went through the Suez, the Indian Ocean too
over six weeks on a boat, with all new things to do
A youth, with all my life before me, heading to a great land
with my parents and three sisters, I knew life could be grand
I thought that if I found a job, and saved up all my dough
in two years, I’d have paid my dues, back to England I would go
and now it’s over fifty years, I’ve lived here in this land
had children and a happy life, I knew it would be grand
I could never find the words I’d need, to explain to you
how good this life turned out for me, so to dad I say “Thank you”
