A New Dream

Allow me to mourn the life I will not live The future I imagined would be mine The kisses The mountains I will never climb Friends I will never meet I can no longer be your strength Please just hold my hand Allow me to lean on you for a while Let us appreciate these last few moments It is time to dream a new dream Not of this world I know you pray daily for my healing My pain is your pain Allow me to go so that I may release us Please don't cling to me I can no longer be your strength Don't be dissapointed Don't count it as a lack of faith It is time for a new dream My savior stands at the end of my bed Ready to usher me to a new world I am not afraid He has kept his promise I no longer mourn It is okay if you do Be sad for a while I know you will be comforted I have not abandoned you I will live a new dream I will once again be a source of strength for you Written for my friend Pete who's fifteen year old Grandson recently passed away from cancer.

Cancer is something I hate the most. The worst part is when a person gets this disease, He knows he is going to live no more and for that he starts living a meaningless life. The moment I read The Fault In Our Stars, I got to know about how do people live when they become a cancer patient (earlier, I didn't know about it much) and I felt I had to write a poem about it. So I wrote the one you recently read. I love your poem THE BEST I HAVE READ TODAY

You are quite right Rick! I can't remember the verse, but I recall something in the bible that went along the lines as "this life is merely a drop in the ocean, compared to the next". So any personal gain you hope to gain now isn't worth much, since it will all be taken away, in the end. All that will remain is your soul and nothing more...

Very beautiful and uplifting. A much more elegant way of saying don't put all your eggs in one basket... don't be afraid to set yourself for another dream-chase when the first one didn't turn out so well. In an odd way I was reminded of the song Deathbed by Relient K. If you're ever feeling musical you should give it a listen... it's a very moving song!

If you have eggs this is the basket to place them. All things gained in this world will pass away as will we one day. Our relationship with Jesus determines our ultimate destiny and reality. A worthy dream which will come true if we accept his free gift which he paid for with a tremendous cost.

This has such beautiful sentiment, especially because my mother passed away recently and I'm in the process of writing a poem about death. Love this peaceful and soothing poetry.

That's very powerful for me...I like the line "it's time to dream a dream." For me, that's hard to accept, but I have no choice. Always make your "goodbyes" to family and friends your best ones. Because you don't know if a "hello" is on the other side.....Thank you for sharing this wonderful poem...xxoo Holly Moore

Thanks for reading this one. As a believer having the knowledge of one day being reunited with loved ones reduces deaths sting. I pray that your soul will be comforted. God Bless

This is heartbreakingly sad. You've managed to capture the emotions very well. It's never easy to know that death is near - life is what human beings were intended for.Well written Richard!

Miracles exist but the most wonderful miracle is when a dying person can show you her/his faith and is not afraid of going away...living "a new dream". Powerful expression, Rick! You are such a big empathic heart...Crying...Blessings, Hanitra
