October 22 A month ago today, But who’s counting Only our family, Our pain, Our sorrow And life keeps going. Life remains unfair It completely sucked out the beauty And now the darkness is a new reality Somedays are easier, A smile lets loose Then days I am suffocated with grief Remembering who you were Who you are With only a month having passed It’s made me realize that this pain This anxious feeling in my soul Will never fully disappear It’s the new me New reality Slipping on foot after the other up the staircase of doom And yet if we don’t find the light again, That’s doom So we must go on, We must swallow our tears sometimes Let them play out and ask What would Mom do? What would she say? And although we don’t want to hear it Although we don’t want to feel it, She would say “Let me go”

So sad. Powerful poem, Sarah. Find a way to let your Mom live vicariously through your joy. She is looking over you and loves you more than ever.
