A Memory

Rugged and rebuffed it still sets all alone
A memory of my very long ago childhood
Vine covered with creepy crawlers all about
More frightening now then when a child I think
I remember the old outhouse from long ago

Hi Carol - I can see why this poem is a winner! When I was a little girl, I used to hear about outhouses, but they were a little before my time. - Gail

Congrats Carol, so expressive about childhood memories. There was an old outhouse behind my grandfather's house that used to creep me out---would only go near it in bright sunlight!

A beautiful poem. Very touching. I recollect a verse in Urdu language. The translation reads: Recollection of the past is killing me, O Lord/ Be merciful and take away my memory. Thanks Carol for your felicitation over the winning of my poem The Old Age in the First Round of the Contest. You are very kind. -Mohammad
