A Man Afraid To Cry
If a love shall be lost to you
Matter not how fine, fair is true.
You search in vain as for the why.
To mend a broken heart you must
If in your eye a tear is thrust,
Be not a man afraid to cry.
And when the Lord enters your heart
As you feel your demons depart.
You feel your spirits soar so high
Do as the Holy Ghost commands,
Then let tears of joy fill your hands,
Be not a man afraid to cry.
Pray when you're first born will arrive,
With joyful thanks to Him on high.
Be for all men this test to try,
And pray this child the Lord reveres.
If with your joy, there comes a tear.
Be not a man afraid to cry.
And as the hand your cradle rocked
So sleeps the sleep forever locked.
Then at her grave you bid her by
Given such loss your mortal fear
Find down your cheek there rolls a tear.
Be not a man afraid to cry.
And when, my son before my grave,
Please stand you strong and be too brave,
My memory never deny.
So brave too be your fears to clash
Wet with your tears my cold gray ash.
Be not a man afraid to cry.
