The magic of coffee, the spell of my tea, The allure of the vapour swirling up. Every day I am caught in a beautiful trance, Hypnotised by a small coffee cup. It’s a risk with no milk, how hot is the drink, Will it burn my tender lips to the flesh? Or is the moment just right, right now for a sip, A sip that’s spontaneously fresh. My mind jumps for joy, my insides are all warm, My body feels hugged in a rug. A rug that’s surreal, made up of my soft, A soft filled from a small coffee mug. This magical cuppa I sip every morning, Relaxes, loosens up, every day. This is a home away from home, a seat to relax, In the corner of my local café. Awarded 3rd place in contest

Hi Lewis, Nice little poem. Coffee is great. In your 3rd. stanza down where you say, "my body feels hugged in a rug" It might sound interesting also for you to say, "My body feels hugged in a mug." (Just an observation.) Keep up the good work. Earl

A Kiwi may not foster your beer but your coffee will share. Words produce an aroma too hard to resist. You write more than fair. David from NZ

Too cute Lewis. It really made me smile. I do love my tea. God Bless, and thanks so much for your patience. Been gone awhile and just got back to my puter. Your kind words on my poem "NATURE" were so appreciated. Thanks so much. JB

Oh yes, no day is complete without it. This is a perfectly captured moment, when the heat meets the lips and sipping on your poem this morning was very nice. :)

The simple act of sipping a cup of coffee so beautifully described. Think I'll have a "filter coffee" right now with the monsoon rain pitter-pattering on my window panes.
