A Look At Myself
I never really thought about it –
What is there in me?
When I walk boldly down the street
what do other people see?
My hair is full of silver
though it may seem gray to some.
My eyes are brown and sparkle
like the best is always yet to come.
I try to always smile and greet
those I know when e’er we meet.
And if I can, I always hug
and let them know it is a treat.
My walk does not display now
what once was a proud swagger.
Age has brought me down a bit
to where I sometimes stagger.
In retirement I developed
whiskers on my chin
They really added character to
the look of this old has-been,
So if you were to ask me
what there is in me to see.
I would refer you to my Lord above.
What He sees is all that matters to me.
