A Lonely Girl
A lonely girl
Sitting by herself
A book for company
No other kids around
The stories her way to escape
Their happy endings, her dreams
Inside her mind
The stories play
She can let go
She can feel free
The heroes and heroines
Her friends
Their adventures
Her own way
To make believe
She’s not all lonely
To ignore
She has no real friends
Lost in her books
She can dream
That she’s a princess
On a fairytale
She can lose herself
In “make believes”
In shinning knights
And beautiful tales
The books that kept her entertained
Also kept her company
Reading became her way of keeping
Her mind sane
For she could dream
That happy endings
Could happen
That it was something she could achieve
That it was worth to keep trying
She could be happy
She just had to believe
