A Lonely Girl

A lonely girl Sitting by herself A book for company No other kids around The stories her way to escape Their happy endings, her dreams Inside her mind The stories play She can let go She can feel free The heroes and heroines Her friends Their adventures Her own way To make believe She’s not all lonely To ignore She has no real friends Lost in her books She can dream That she’s a princess On a fairytale She can lose herself In “make believes” In shinning knights And beautiful tales The books that kept her entertained Also kept her company Reading became her way of keeping Her mind sane For she could dream That happy endings Could happen That it was something she could achieve That it was worth to keep trying She could be happy She just had to believe *** March 10th, 2017

Lonely you say... You could also say: alone, which is different from lonely. Were you lonely? It's not a direct question, more a sort of observing your poem from every direction :) For me personally what you describe is alone, I am everything in there, but I don't feel lonely. Wonderful poem that makes me think <3

Claudia, I can certainly relate to your poem. That girl in your poem could be me! I wasn't lonely, though, as I preferred my make believe stories to real life. I'm all grown up now and I still like make-believe! Your poem brought back many memories! I enjoyed! Blessings, Kim

Hey Kim, I'm happy you liked and could relate to my poem. I did prefer my make believe world too. It was friendlier than the real one. But i was lonely...like you, that's past... gone but not forgotten. Hugs
