A Little Girls Journey
A little Girl’s Journey
A little girl’s day dream of her first train ride
A journey filled with laughter,
fun, comfort, and ease
Her heart does a small leap
With butterflies on daisies teasing her tummy
Excited with glee barely able to sleep
with thoughts on her mind
~
Does a big giant clock make the train run?
How about if it winds down and runs out of time,
do they have to rewind it again?
Does it get mad because it’s lost its pace
and bellows smoke out its stack?
Would I be able to feel the cool breeze
flow through the open window upon my face?
Will we be racing a cross-country
a hundred miles an hour
watching the trees wheeze by?
Do we get a glimpsed of livestock
and animals grazing in the countryside?
Can I give a friendly wave
and say hello to all the people?
~
She carries a basket of cheese,
cherries, cookies, and brownies
Waiting impatiently with each passing second
Drowsily she lays her head on a pillow
against the window adrift in sweet dreams
with her long beautiful wavy red hair
draped over her shoulder
Awaking to the echoes of people chattering,
The whistle and the screeching sounds
of the train coming to a halt arriving at the end
of her journey approximately at the right time
