A Life Once Lost
Have you seen the cardboard man,
with feet without no shoes.
walking with a shoppin trolly of things he cannot lose.
Belitteling himself for all to see,
a proud man once with family.
walking in the road to pick up a butt,
kids laugh at the man whos outa luck.
Have you seen the cardboard man
allways with a smile.
dirty hands, dirty clothes not eaten for a while.
Desperate men do desperate things,
and some commit unspeakable things.
some can cope and carry on,
some worlds collapse when things go wrong.
Have you seen the cardboard man,
he allways stinks of booze.
wishing life would go away hes nothing left to lose.
Sinking into the dead of night,
to avoid the crowds that want to fight.
we say no to the begger who relunctently asks,
but do we ever consider his past.
I have seen the cardboard man,
allways with the smile,
i have seen the cardboard man cos it was me for a while
