A Life and a Half
Looking back, I spent half my life,
Trying to avoid anger, chaos or strife.
With hunched back, and lowered eye,
Avoiding those, who passed me by.
Keeping silent, wanting loud to speak,
Lost in crowds, when aloneness I seek.
Holding it in, instead of letting it out,
Biting my lips, when I want to shout.
Being told I must give up, or give in,
Don’t start a battle, that you can’t win.
But what is the cost, of this half a life?
Without a cocktail, of harmony and strife.
There is no take, without first giving,
The Ying and Yang are the price of living.
Breathe in the present, and out the past,
Savour each moment…Make it last.
Challenge unjust, with silence or aloud,
Become a pioneer, not one of the crowd.
Peace, chaos, failure, success you’ll find,
Is all wrapped up...in a beautiful mind.
