A Letter From My Soul
Last evening I received a letter from my Soul
many things he told me;
“We were send on earth to serve
to serve with loving service we should
to promote universal brotherhood we should
to co-create with our Creator we should
but I see something else
Mr. Body now open up your ears”, he continued;
Your hands rejoice when it hurts others
laughs all the way to banks with forged checks
Eyes delight in seeing obscene things
the mouth delivers fiery bellicose words
that often cause wars and division.
See how your legs are happy for breaking human ribs
Your stomach swings with meals robbed from the poor!
You profane your Body for pleasure, favor and cash.
Tell me, is this loving service we came to do?”
I, the Body wasn’t comfortable with these accusations
Straight I responded to my Soul;
“I do all those due to your compliance and weakness
Remember I do what you tell me
My hands, legs, mouth, eyes resist but,
when you break down I, the Body must act
I too accuse my mind for mischief
when I ask for guidance by reasoning correctly
the Mind often gives wrong solutions
when my hand sits to work out answers
you the Mind often gives wrong answers
to right questions of life
you cannot choose between right and wrong
Listen my Soul; if you are strong I the Body errs not
Listen my Mind; if you are bright and reason precisely
I the Body cannot write wrong answers to life’s
fundamental questions
Yet when you mislead me and I do wrong,
you the Soul and you the Mind run away
and hide on top of trees and hills
leaving me to suffer torture,
prison, rot or the grave!
