A Kaleidoscope of Butterflies
A single grain of sand set in an hourglass of time
Can shift the scales of fate without a reason, without rhyme
The world spins more slowly while your heart is racing on
And every shallow breath is desperately halcyon.
Awash in waves of passion shaded pink and baby blue
A mind that's full of nothing and with everything so new
Until the pain that cuts so deep you see the reaper loom
And know your soul is suddenly as empty as your womb.
Endless seconds wishing that the sun would cease to shine
And begging God to show Himself, a miracle, a sign
Rediscover moon and stars in this endless, blackest night
And bring back hues where pale carved stones are blanketing my sight.
As quickly as my prayer could form into a conscious thought
A most glorious miracle before my eyes is brought.
For in that place where laid to rest the offspring of my heart
A kaleidoscope of butterflies helped my child to depart.
