A Jolly Old Chap
It was the night before Christmas when all through the Soup
Many were still writing trying to regroup
Their sonnets were written with delicate care
Hoping the judges would at least be fair
Some poets whose muses had already gone to bed
Struggled to find words lost in their heads
Into Christmas Pleiades some tried to tap
But dozed off at their computer an took a nap
But then on the blogs there arose such a chatter!
Many rushed to read to see what was the matter
All contests would be judged by a jolly old chap!
Who wore a long white beard and a dimpled red cap!
The comments on the blog began to grow and grow
Soon it was hot, and could melt the falling snow
It must be St Nick who on the blog did appear
He even had pictures of all his reindeer!
Each poem a gift to St Nicks delight
Each contest win wrapped in ribbons so bright
The jolly old chap soon dropped out of sight
But I heard him exclaim as he took off in flight,
"Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!!"
