A Hope For Some Showers
I stood there in the balcony;
Taking a sip of my tea
Gazing up at the gathering clouds
And clearly I could see
After weeks and weeks of scorching heat
The first signs of cheerful rain
And the clouds covering the sky
Like a lion's bushy mane
The rains are always welcome
After the dragging summer days
And always seem to cheer us up
In some unknown ways.
I stood there quite silently
Just hoping for some rain
But after a few moments
It all seemed in vain
I was about to go inside
As all my hope was drained
And then, oh! Bless the lord,
How heavily it rained!
The children in the streets
All danced in the rain
And jumped about, here and there
As if they were insane
The rains descending from heaven
Gently kissed the ground
And eased the tension of our busy lives
With their pitter-patter sound.
