A Guilty Conscious
I ate your spite for breakfast,
I felt it go down my gullet,
I felt it turn to acid in my belly
And the hatred, burnt my intestines to ashes.
I felt your eyes upon me, Yeah!
I saw the angel behind that look,
I saw the self-assured righteousness,
And the unwillingness to accommodate a sinner.
I felt you brand me hypocrite, Yeah!
I heard the unsaid words too,
I heard you promise me a night in hell,
And the lethal verdict with all morality gone.
I swallowed your spite the whole day,
And puked it the next.
