I was fortunate enough to learn about some of the 'lesser-known' (internationally, anyway) Indian festivals as an ESL teacher to hundreds of students from India, during a period from 2016 - 2018 in Chicago. I remember this one for its triumph of good over evil, and its celebration of the strength of femininity. So lovingly have you depicted it, Rama! Thank you, Gershon

Celebrating the victory of the good over the evil, worshipping Goddess Ma Durga, celebrating the strength and power of 'feminity'... .. the essence of Navratri... so well captured in this beautiful poem of yours Rama... Many memories of childhood when I along with my sister and friends used to go to friends and neighbors house for Golu... Wishing you and family a very happy Navratri... Hugs... ~ Ani

Your comment brought back many memories. Used to go for Golu even after wedding. Corona stopped it. Son in 10th. Next year will surely keep Golu. I want to. It is so much fun. I want to create wonderful memories for my son.

Roads in front of my house are lit. I can hear song in praise of Goddess. We celebrate in our building too. Dancing till 12 at night after dinner. we call females home, touch their legs.Give them food and gifts.... List is endless... This is an all female festival except for garbha in which make also dance along with females.
