A Ghost Story

Sue and I had lost contact when we left school and the Dominican Convent, Met up ten years later, admitted both of us foolish, each nodded consent, Had coffee, agreed to meet often, lived in Cape Town, merely a suburb apart, Both happy with our villas, loved our homes, the Cape so stylish and smart. She invited me to her home for a braai with her family this coming Sunday, The door was open, I went in, is that you Jenn, I’ve got to look good today, Mother-in-law coming, do come up, but what took you so long coming upstairs, I met an old man, we chatted a while, what a sweetie, said his name was Zairs Who, she asked me in disbelief, Zairs, impossible, loved to play musical chairs, He told me, is it your dad, Sue,you look alike, spoke of you and how he cares, But you’ve gone pale as if you’ve seen a ghost, why are you so terribly upset, Jenn, dad died years ago, seems he got lost, confused, but glad you two met. A story about two friends meeting, suddenly turns into a spiritual occurrence. I was smiling while reading, and then my mouth dropped. You certainly know how to grab the attention on your readers, Jennifer. Congratulations on your win. Many wonderful blessings to you. Hugs, Brandy

This is much less creepy than most ghost stories. A nice chat with a sweet man, that's more my speed. Hope you are on the mend and your wrist is getting stronger every day. Love your story telling poetry such as this, and I have been enjoying reading your Tea Break poems. God bless you, sister.

I believe your story. It happens I have so personal experience but I have heard from many reliable persons. I have not met any deceased person but my soul interacted with my Late Father. Blessings .

What a sudden twist to the story of a casual meeting of two friends in one home..... ! Never expected this... sudden turn of events. I can imagine the pale face of your friend Sue. This shock at the end adds to the beauty of the poem. Great story, Jen!

These kinds of tales are all too prevalent, and just hearing them gives you the chills. I'm really hoping Jennifer that you're making progress in her recuperation.
