A Faulty Lifejacket
I'm drowning;
Kicking with all I have,
Screaming as if someone will hear me-
Shrill and panicked,
As my lungs fill with water;
My nose and mouth are smothered,
I can't breathe.
Burning,
Burning,
Everything is burning;
Black dots perforate my vision,
My throat is closing up-
I'm trying,
I'm trying so hard to stay afloat.
It's not working.
I'm drowning.
And the worst part?
The waters are calm.
