A Dream of Innocent Love
(for: the poetess with the golden pen)
So child-like, so soothing,
Dreamy eyes shyly speaking
Of warmth & gifts & praise,
Like a sweet & lovely prince!
On the fertile soil of his heart,
Shoots young affection: sweet,
Pure, calm, gentle as dove –
How alive & innocent is his love!
Then, set those eyes upon Nature;
In her truth & love make adventure,
Rising above sorrow & falsehood
Across the stormy sea of this world;
In this, shalt thou bloom,
& be happy in thine dream
Of progress: calm & sweet,
Of innocence in thine heart!
