A Dream
As the night grows silent,
I delicately watch you sleep
With such tender breathing
On the grass in your backyard.
I’m afraid that if I touch you , you’ll wake
Your catching smile signifies you’re dreaming things I could not
I try to remember why you’re so important to me
A list appears without effort
It’s not hard
I cautiously lift my cold fingers , and air is the only thing that
Separates them from your smooth face.
You stir
My thoughts shift back to the reality
That I’m too close
Brown eyes lock me into their spell
We stay that way for a few precious seconds.
You don’t seem disturbed by the fact that I was secretly watching
You. From my window, I saw you lying alone , and went over to keep you
Company .
You touch your fingertips with mine that were left in mid-air
“ I dreamt something spectacular “ you whispered gently
I melted at the sound of your voice ,
And wondered what you thought about me.
How do you feel?
My gaze couldn’t come off our touch.
“you know what it was?” you asked in the same tone.
I looked back into your delicate eye’s ,wandering, but said nothing .
“this”
You smiled as you leaned closer
And finally
Kissed me.
