A Different Kind of Book
Whiskey nose, baggy eyes
Furrowed brow and ruddy cheeks
Wistful look on wasted face
Oh, the many years this face bespeaks
Lines laid down by life’s stern pen
A story writ by time and then:
Revised and rewritten o’er and o’er again
‘Pon living parchment of brow and cheeks
A living tome of life and time
From mother’s milk to summer’s wine
In living lines…Aye, a book
…is this face of mine…
