A Counterfeit Life
Years as an actress in the role of wife
Being who I thought I should be
My heart dulled and my mind full of strife
Left me empty and longing for me
Who is that in the glass I see?
Her face shows considerable trials
Not enough laugh lines looking back
A crowd of wrinkles showing the miles
Marriage over airs gone away now
All that’s left is anxiety
No longer living a counterfeit life
If I’m not her then who shall I be?
