A Cool Cloth
Oh how Our Lord was beat by men who had no heart
Spit upon by people on the street in all playing a part
So weary must He'd been hearing those mocking jeers
Here to conquer our sin I can only offer up my tears
So many with their fist in the air and mouths opened wide
Suddenly right there, this woman came to Our Lords Side
A cool cloth in her hand and a loving touch from her heart
Just the thought is grand but Veronica actually filled that part
She didn't care what they said for she did not put herself first
Wiping Our Lord's Face as He bled, a love that was unrehearsed
She went right past the roman guard maybe caught by surprise
As it's not that hard imaging Veronica looking up into Jesus' eyes
As Jesus is now passing by you with others cursing Him by Name
What are You going to do, are you too going to join in their shame
Or are you going to run to His Side with such a cool cloth in hand
I know St. Veronica was glad she tried in this you must understand
