A Christmas Wish
As the late afternoon storm hit along the coast
I was nice and warm snuggled under my blanket
Watching out the window
As the snow was coming down
Faster than I had expected.
I can see….
The individual shapes of the snowflakes
As they swirled and trickled down
To cover the green grassy hillside.
I can see….
The snow-covered rhododendron bushes,
And I was hoping to see a red cardinal
Perched on the top crust
Displaying all of its beauty.
The next morning when I woke up,
I couldn’t image what I saw—
I can see ….
The tracks made by deer
Indelibly marked patterns within the snow
As if there was a family conference
On the brick patio.
Couldn’t imagine why there were so many deer,
Unless they knew something that I didn’t know:
A special purpose hidden beneath the surface
Must have been pre-orchestrated from a higher source.
A bright new sunny day followed….
It was not until late morning
Six feet apart
I saw a doe staring at me!
Through the window
That separated the both of us
I was mesmerized how
Our eyes met for the first time
As if she really knew me
My kind heart and soul.
She did her little song and dance,
Scampered down the hillside,
And then off she went into the woods.
Nature is bountiful
Only through the eye s of the beholder.
Was this a special moment
Predicting glorious moments ahead?
For only I will know
In the days to come.
