A Christmas Poem

Christmas carols, mince pies and beer, The living room was full of cheer, All the children then went to bed, Except for their parents who stayed up instead. The clock then chimed in the hall, Outside - snow had begun to fall, The parents tip - toed up the stairs, While they whispered their bedtime prayers. But, in their bedrooms the children listen, For the sound of sleigh bells that were distant, They watched and waited until at last, The sound got louder as Santa flew past. 'Ho! Ho!' said Santa Claus, and the the church bells began to ring, But - let’s not forget what Christmas is about and it’s not what Santa brings, A baby named Jesus was born on this day, Asleep in a manger on top of some hay.
