A Choice For Me
I always thought that my family would always be there for me
I once dated someone that they didn't approve of
If felt like they had withdrawn all of their love
My life is my own to live as I choose
I should not feel like the color of my life is blue
When you make your decisions as you choose to do
I don't stop acting like I love you
My decision I make is to make me happy
Even if you don't always agree
One thing has nothing to do with the other
I'm still your sister, and you are still my mother
You don't have the right to sit back and judge
Just because I choose not to have a grudge
It still doesn't change who I may be
But it doesn't give you the right to withdraw from me
I can't sit here and honestly say
That it doesn't break my heart for things to be this way
Life is too short not to forgive and forget
if I choose to do that without regret
If this was a choice that you made for you
I'd stick by your side in whatever you choose to do
So stop talking about me behind my back, because you do not agree
This is my life, my decision, and my choice for me
