A Caged Freedom

My impending traits can wait as I do Every second loses its last crown It is now interned as a presence lost and falsely retained My caged freedom frequently returns It strikes an ungodly hum unsung A future grapples with scenes beyond my grasp I name it a mile in sequence with its distance My timely chimes ring anew as pain graces my berth I am surrounded by fading greys and their diminishing sounds, shrill and anguished A pall of dusk engulfs my need And this caged freedom returns
