A Caged Freedom
My impending traits can wait
as I do
Every second loses its last crown
It is now interned
as a presence
lost and falsely retained
My caged freedom frequently returns
It strikes an ungodly hum
unsung
A future grapples with scenes
beyond my grasp
I name it a mile in sequence
with its distance
My timely chimes ring anew
as pain graces my berth
I am surrounded by fading greys
and their diminishing sounds,
shrill and anguished
A pall of dusk engulfs my need
And this caged freedom returns
