A Blind Date

Quiet table for two, we sit alone, I wonder at the years, how life has flown. Silent experiment, I closed my eyes, Pretended half our lives had not passed by, Imagined I’d never known you before, You were a stranger, walking through the door. What would I do, first encountering you, Sitting across the table, met anew? Ignoring for now, the permanent ink, Parallel universe in a quick blink. Eyes opened afresh, the scene snapped in place Chocolate chip freckles, smile, cinnamon face. Curly locks cascading down to sun-glazed Shoulders, like the first time, I am amazed! Sharp breath in, heart pattering, beautiful! Stricken again anew, I feel the thrill. How will I manage to win o’er her heart? With what magic words the romance will start? Tick, tock, goes the opportunity clock, Don’t freeze up now, no time for vapor lock… Was this once easy, for another me? Perhaps time is a salve on memory. Sigh, blink, bring the game to a hasty end, I come back to you this day, once again. Your heart long won, branches deeply entwined Fortunate stars, this angel is still mine! 3/4/16
