A Blank Stare

I come to you with a broken spirit and an open mind, Seeking your wisdom and ties that bind, Asking for nothing more than a comforting hand, A place for this drifter to safely land, But you turn me away because of your own defects Quoting me phrases from an ancient text, Never seeking to read what was actually written, Barking and biting at what has already been bitten, A slave to your own blindness you will not even deign, To listen to a truth which your tainted ear may profane, I'm still speaking, yet you have not heard, The sound of my voice nor the depth of my words, Like drawings in the sand your thoughts ebb away, Leaving a clean slate for ignorance to prey.
