A Better Place
I left home
For a race
Against whom
Promised a better place
I found a light
I can’t embrace
And turned out to fight
My own grace
I was too hollow
To find a clue
Of what should follow
That I won’t rue
I can’t believe
I couldn’t see
What lay inside
So close to me
My smile was lame
Life went so slow
Whom shall I blame
Which craved to know
My day’s a strife
I can but face
That makes my life
A better place.
