A Battle Lost
There was no wind in sight,
No flowers to bloom,
There was just cold silence,
It so happened that night.
A text message that sighed,
Unbelievable it seemed,
With each word in that sentence,
The heart rustled in fright.
The gut stuck on might,
Brain, in shambles, eyes drenched,
Denial ringing the doorbell,
It so happened that night.
A life for his plight,
Dreams gone to waste,
He wrote his last good-bye,
While he got quite.
His world loosing all light,
Questioning the human existence,
His testament cried mercy,
It so happened that night.
I wonder if we'd ever unite,
In another realm, It seems,
Things I'd do differently,
For the soul lost in the fight.
Those who dream, lied,
In the memory of him, they mourn,
A wager of war, soldiers waiting,
It so happened that night.
