" the Catch "
Edge of the seat quest
so you can get there
pronto
no time wasted
Brief bush walk
to that spot
popular as 'our's'
The blanket shaken out
sails down making
hard ground soft
Everything needed for
this expedition
unpacked hurried yet delicately
He shows you
how to bait that hook
slapping hands
at the squirming nature within
Concentrate! No giggling!
Wrapping arms gently around
pulling you and the invention back
expressing how to
throw forth
The weight
the meat
let-fly
into the waters
Smiling with enthusiasm
first part succeeded
Bums fall graciously into
portable chairs
Cans cracked open
as gentle tunes
buzz from a radio
and into the bush
A tug captures attention
Jump up
Stand strong
ready to pull
hoping a precise sized meal
The creature tries to match your strength
unwilling to give life so easily
But you fight back
luring in
piece by piece
Until the battle
is yours
As the day comes to an end
the bucket carried
contains dinner
for the next week
There are sincerely big smiles
and relaxed content souls
