As I’m thinking back To that day I remember Over three thousand lives We lost in September... The images captured Still stuck in my mind And it brought us together So we all could find... Some common ground On which we could stand No matter the color You grabbed someone’s hand... Of those seeking comfort Or choosing to kneel To pray for the ashes Not concrete and steel... But if we forget Their deaths were in vain And new building permits Were all that we gained...
