70's Reminisce

I was a new kid in town, feeling awkward and shy, feeling like I didn't belong feeling quite down, listened to the radio as much as I could, I surfed the channels, when I heard your gentle sound... It brought me out of my doldrums, because I could finally relate, it was music to my ears, made me feel I could escape... Made me feel redeemed, trying to fit into... a different world it seemed, with the Vietnam War still raging on, your songs literally brought me out the sun… So, just wanted to thank you Karen, although you've long since withered away, your songs still live in my heart, even up till today.

Wonderful, Cheryl! I loved The Carpenters. Your poem is a lovely tribute to Karen. The term "withered away" brings tears to my eyes, because that's exactly what she did (as you obviously know). hugs xxx Paul
