#288 Goodnight Dear Father, My Friend
You led a hard life my friend
Of thorns and stones to heavy to bare
Within the spirits you were consumed
Exiled to a life exhumed
My heart can only wish to share
The love I have left to send.
~
No grudge do I hold of your accomplishments
You suffered more severe than I
Twas to your soul a broken man
Though life was clear in harsh demand
Of what you lost I'll not ask why
For nothing removed gained betterment.
~
Was plead to stars on merry night
one chance to hold the dream
Yet even to I was in exile
Abandoned, forgotten in family style
To this was I alone to scream
What should have been has been stripped from sight.
~
Behold, I rejoice the reunion
The daughter taken vigorously twice
Returns to you within the sky
With this does my sadness subside
As love falls ominous to entice
In witness, the Holy communion.
~
Hold her father, forever
Hide her from the lies
The forlorn search is broken
Though truth was never spoken
I stare with tears in my eyes
For love I shall always endeavor.
~
Goodnight dear father, my friend
Keep wait as my spirit still grows
I bid thee farewell, adieu
As life I now must pursue
With strength I shall compose
'Till life for me transcends.
