She bought a new calendar for the year ahead,
The year filled full of her want,
And quickly highlighted important dates,
In red, before she forgot,
Birthdays and weddings, holidays planned,
Times that were kind of exact,
Then she filled the most interesting date of the year,
With a pure and absolute black,
At the start of our autumn, alone by itself,
The day she'd planned for her end,
The day of the sun, where the birds will all sing,
When she can hang herself up in her shed,
Her calendar this year holds all of the days,
Right up to her very last date,
When everything will be better for everyone else,
When death will put an end to her ache.
