16

She was 16, And she said she hated herself And the life she was forced to live. She failed the test she spent all night studying for. She loved a boy who would never love her in return, And who broke her heart into pieces that she had no strength To mend back together. "I QUIT" she yelled As she ran to her room and collapsed onto the floor. The tears flooded out of her eyes as if they've been held back, For far too long. She can't help but to think "No one understands" No one understands why one bad grade feels like the end of the world. No one understands why she tries so hard When she fails to succeed every time. Because neither does she. But for now, The laughs and smiles will mask it all For no one needs to know the mess inside her head And the disaster within her heart. She hopes the happiness she displays to all will one day be genuine And she hopes that someday Her facade will fade away with the sorrows of her tears.
