We write of the past
and guess at the future
Tracks of experience
clear and well marked

Deep in our consciousness
 memory hoping
Yesterday’s kindling
— tomorrow will burn

Examining the sidewalks of Indianapolis
    reveals a surfeit of oranges and apples
  'Course we're talking about peels and cores
    over which anti-litterbuggers have started a war

  Well, it's a fight to the finish against urban blight
    in whose defense have arisen Proud Boys on

Being is to 
becoming

As seedlings are 
to blooms

Today as to
tomorrow

Midnight
unto noon

Sparks beget
a brilliance

As fans beget
the flame

Breath into
a sonnet

A child 
aptly named

A thought
once spoken freely

The scent 
of chosen prey

A smile
when returning

A love

Some love provoking the comfortable
Raising the ire of those set in their way
Stirring up tension among the implacable,

Flames of brilliant white-blue fire
Flash through the dark of night
Giving my thoughts a place to graze
Like cattle on the land, in the hay
Feeding off the nutrients of grass
Clumps of precious sustenance 
Nourishing my ideas and dreams
With inspiration, insight and belief
That lives within the hopes that live

There is a house divided in large and small corridors.
Rolling, whirling, raging flames pushing at every door.
Flames of the past and today caused sorrow
There is a fan blowing, pushing flames even at tomorrow.
It conjures up the buttress to empower the flames,

A life well lived
A loving and caring being
His smile made our hearts leap
Such a fragrance only he could bring.

A lot was said as he was lying in state.
So much love served but could no longer be eaten
