bathroom tiles
never clean
except for the first week
before anyone takes a shower

kitchen tiles
in a variety of designs and colors
glass, ceramic, metallic,
sprucing up the area before spaghetti sauce hits them

a necessity if the juke box and chrome chairs are to pull off
the ambiance of the fifties

Welcome to the United States

Home of the new Russian empire

Half of you have the impression

That our Democracy should expire

You choose to bow down to some clown

Who touts Vladimir Putin

And you won't be satisfied

Until everyone starts shootin'

If you just want to be a slave

Your future it would behoove

Give our country a final wave

And pack up your

Heroes

Ode to the fallen heroes
Who left their all
When duty call
Glanced at victory
At the expense of of their lives
Living children and wives
To restore honor and glory.
They fell with their faces with the foes.

They performed their duty diligently
Remember to honor them with dignity.

Victims of vitriols vexation 
denied the rights of their inquisitors.
Censored by the voices of shame
guilt and hubris masquerading
as righteous indignation.
Virtue’s vanity
shouting from the “bully” pulpit
concerned only with its own reflection
“gutturally” genuflecting
before a muted “god”.

    of systemic equity!

  Raise two fingers in triumph
    'V,' for Victory!

  Every distinction eliminated
    The struggle now won!

  We are all second-class citizens
    Utopia officially begun!

The Red Battle

Together we stood, as if one, our thoughts in unison,
there were others among us, they were but shadows,
when we moved, we did so together, our charge- our defeat,
we died together that day, as one, our bodies blooded and battered.

And all that our lives were before an irrelevance-consigned to history,

Yes,

we lived and 

we fought against each other thus enemies on 

the battlefield of hate we died

but 

death has us united and brothers out of us

has made!

bellied birds,

shiny-winged, have made 
their home on or near the 
rooftop of our house. Swiftly,
smoothly wheeling and careening,
bird-whooping to each other; freely,

Comrades,
The future is over.
Nothing prevailed.
Sort out whatever is left.
I’m going to sleep, 
To wake-up in a new dream.
I’m bringing my wife, daughter, 
And the rest of my loved ones.
I’m not making any promises.
People keep shouting if there’s any rope 
On the boat for when we leave.
I don’t know what they’re talking about.
I’m constantly swimming.
