Strange how everything evolves except love
it just comes in one sweet-fleeting flavor-

Hate and destruction have evolved
We went from clubs, bow and arrow
to a fetish for nuclear diseases.
If love had evolved

Afternoon Afterthoughts

Like a late afternoon afterthought,
a sudden, heavy downpour drenches
and floods the parched marshland.

Here and there, across what once was 
a mirror lake, wet grasses cast swaying, 
tapering shadows in the dying light.


As the skyline fades into the twilight,
exultations throaty and raucous echo
from new puddles, fresh waterholes.
