The Wishing Star

"Star light

Star bright

The first star I see tonight

I wish I may, I wish might

Have the wish I wish tonight." *

My wiser older brother revealed the evening sky. He explained to watch for the first star to appear, make a wish which would come true. I was very skeptical for the world had left insecurity at my door but that wish was made, a simple wish, which came true.

My brothers, parents, aunts and uncles have passed to the other side. I have only some close family and a few kin left who are older.

This first evening of 2020, I went outside, watched for the first star, and made a wish to be transported to the sparkling land where my family resides, where hugs of warm greetings wrap around and angels swiftly go from heaven to earth. Instantaneously I was snatched from my place, a bird sang as I flew. Suddenly, I longed for earth's surroundings. Flying by my magical star, begging to stay upon earth, supernatural light awoke me from a deep sleep. An alarm clock buzzing startled me from my dream. Now allotted more days, I hope I can live worthy of my gift.

Hi Sara, You have created a very imaginative, enchanting tale in an economy of words. Story telling at its best. Best wishes Howard

The poem at the beginning is copied from the internet. Of course, I know it by heart because I learned it from my brother on that evening years ago. I used parenthesis so you would know. Sara
