The Life of a Simple Man

Naive would be the term to describe him back then. Maybe even say- he lacked awareness. There was too, a sensitivity within him that exposed him. Unprotected to the world around him. The question was, could he overcome these unconscious weaknesses that plagued his potential for growth?

Growth, yes growth! Could he develop the awareness necessary to becoming a good man, a good father and husband, successful in some manner?

His inexperience was like that of walking blindly in a forest of wild creatures. Not aware of the dangers that befell him throughout. A kind of purity, incorruption .

As he looks back on his youth from his pearch today he cringes at the complete innocence. It was as if the forest was his cage without a fence to keep him from venturing too far.

Like a domesticated lion without a cage, but didn't venture beyond a line of trees.

Maybe his personna was developed from his environment as a child. Maybe it was his past life. Either way, something seemed to be protecting him from all the dangerous hurdles that he somehow navigated in a manner he describes as vacuous.

Maybe he was protected by something spiritual. As if someone was walking along side and without a word, moved him in a direction befitting a childlike existence.

He still remains bewildered as to the why's and how's of his existence and has yet to realize his potential. As if he has handicapped himself through his own mind.

Maybe, just maybe one day he will break the spell that is holding him back from a mirthful existance.
