The Liar and His Clothes

Portion One

The Island of Far-Far Away

~ ONCE UPON A TIME there was an island called Far-Far Away. It was an obscure, little island located right in the middle of the Sea of Smoke and Mirrors, which was shrouded under the Realm of Oblivion, and centered at the Bottom of Everything.

Most folks had no idea this island existed. (Did you know it existed?). Even those who heard about the Island of Far Far Away didn't believe it existed. Many concluded the island to be a myth. But it was a real place, as real as you and I. However, it was shrouded in mystery, and became the topic of legends.

In order for one to behold the island , one had to have grand belief, and very few possessed that quality. Those who believed on a grand scale were usually obsessed with the island, and devoted their lives to finding it. Even then, only the most experienced, and accomplished explorers were granted entrance into the Realm where the island existed. No one ever returned once they left, which is why legends about it were born.

One legend records the island of Far-Far Away as a charming island, as charming as any island mentioned in a fairytale.

Cottages were scattered like seeds throughout the billowy hills. There were walking trails everywhere, and in every direction, but eventually they all led to the center which was affectionately called the Heart of the Island.

The island was small enough to walk through, but large enough to make a person feel they had to travel to get anywhere.

No one drove or rode anything to get around, as it was banned by royal law (With the exception of the king of course. The king never walked, but was chauffeured, and he always had a huge entourage in his wake.).

The Island was covered with flowers that had petals which never fell off. There were also fluffy meadows that smelled like fresh baked bread and pickles, and one, small forest on the north side.

And yes, there were bugs, but only the friendly kind, and they never bothered anyone.

In addition, there was an abundance of animals so cute, so fuzzy, and so entertaining that one could hardly stand in their midst without feeling faint. Some folks actually did faint. As a word of caution, signs were posted throughout the island informing visitors with the following statement:

ATTENTION…

PROCEED WITH CAUTION…

BRACE YOURSELVES…

You may have an encounter with an island animal(s).

Island animals are irresistible, charming and ridiculously cute. They are known to perform side shows before an audience. Should you encounter any island animals Remember to:

1. Breathe.

2. Sit down if dizzy.

You may get smitten. You may faint (It happens all the time)

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

~His Royal Management

It was a thriving island, a lively world, self-sufficient in every way. Each morning the citizens of the Island of Far-Far Away set about on the trails with their daily offerings to set up in the Village Venue. The Village Venue was the only area paved in cobblestone, and was the designated business district. The island vendors lined the cobblestone streets with their merchandise, and sold to all who passed by.

Not far from there was an area dedicated to theatrics, puppet shows, one-man bands, and an array of oddities meant to amaze the spectators.

The colors were bright, and the atmosphere was bubbly. It was a city to behold indeed.
