Say a Few Words

The door was closed and only one or two let in at a time. Family and friends were taking their turn visiting him to say their last goodbyes as he lay in the hospital bed near death. Plans for his funeral were already being made and she was asked to speak a few words about her good friend. She could hardly say no since they had always been playfully teasing each other for years. Whoever of us went first knew the other promised to say a few special words on their behalf.

She sat at her computer, staring, wondering what she would say about the man she loved. What could she say that would not put herself in the hot seat ? Her fingers tembled as she traced over the keys that would have printed out J O E had she let them press down. Who would have guessed all this stress would come just because two friends shared a common interest...each other !

Years had gone by and their relationship never fizzed anyone, including their famlies. The occassional contact through the years had been enough for her to be satisfied with.Only the two secret lovers knew what was within their hearts. it would forever stay that way.

After all, he was married, wasn't he !
