PEOPLE COME INTO OUR LIVES FOR A REASON

Herald of winters, the blowing of boisterous wind, ceaseless droplets and chill in the air was making me quiver and shiver. It was 0700 when my car was running fast at the ring road, Delhi. I was so happy to feel the nip in the wind. Sitting at the back seat, my gaze was fixed at beautiful buildings…of course I was just too happy!

Suddenly a passing by car caught my stare. There was this pretty pink skinned lady too seemed to be enjoying the same. Couldn’t take my eyes off her!

But the moment she noticed me; I was ready with my typical reaction! Guess what? Very common!

We all generally do this when we cross some stranger! Yes! “Solid ignore!” I did that! I pretended as if I did not see her. Though I had noticed more or less everything – her blue eyes, golden hair, royal blue uniform.

Generally, we all tend ignore strangers, may be because we are taught to do so! Another five minutes, we were like chasing each other but my neck was super stiff, not wanting to even have a glimpse of her.

Our eyes met again. She did not waste either the time or the opportunity. She greeted me “Good morning.” I was overwhelmed, as if I had won! Of course, I replied with equal warmth but her gesture got my heart. That moment became one of the most adorable moment of my life. Today I had learnt something new!

See, when elder people cross each other during morning walks, they always wish each other even when they are not known acquaintances.

When life can be so easy, why do we complicate it? That day onwards – it’s a rule for me, I never ignore people. Mostly it’s me who greets first – sometimes “Good morning,” sometimes just a smile!

Yes, I have heard people perceiving this as status quotient and as a matter of pride. But as I have worked on it, I see this as a rude or cold behaviour; or may be a callous disregard for or disinterest, in others and sometimes our own insecurities and complexes. Gone are the days, when being in one’s comfort zone use to be the best option. To stay green and growing it’s very important to learn and expand. The one who practises becomes a perfectionist!

Let me explain the benefits in disguise: When we notice people crossing by, subconsciously we extend our vision, we are generally aware about our surroundings, people’s actions, gaze, expressions – we get it all without any specific effort. That simply means, we can recognise sort of positive vibes and negative vibes.

Another miraculous change is the increase in confidence. We all are aware of that dreaded feeling, when upon entering an elevator and seeing strangers there. We don’t know where to look! Yes, it’s difficult to explain as to how just greeting strangers can boost confidence but trust me, it’s like breaking the ice. It makes us less scared of people.

Another good thing, which at least I have noticed, is the capability to make rapport instantly. these random exchanges are actually enlightening and rewarding.

“There is little difference in people but that little difference makes a big difference. The little difference is attitude. The big difference is whether it is positive or negative.”

W. Clement Stone

“A positive attitude causes a chain reaction of positive thoughts, events and outcomes. It is a catalyst and it sparks extraordinary results.”

Wade Boggs

I truly agree with David Van Rooy who stated that, “It's often said that change is the only constant in life. Yet humans are evolutionarily predisposed to resist change because of the risk associated with it. Despite this resistance to change, it is more important than ever.”

Hey! I too recommend! Try this little change and notice how things change.

I owe a lot to that lady, who just with her simple gesture changed me for good. Her smile, still embedded inside heart??. Sincere thanks!
