Mismatch

"Yawwwnnn!!!,"blew out fraternal twin brother Frank. He was a fourteen year old music listening, sports loving, video game playing regular kid. He rubs his eyes while sitting up in his bed, he looks around and admires his decked out room. A good amount of purple, green and red highlight the room because Frank is a : Minnesota Vikings, Boston Red Sox, and Boston Celtics fan. Along with the room decorations he also has a video game system which keeps him entertained. Frank gets up out of his bed and walks next door to his, fraternal twin brother, Freddy's room. They are both eagerly excited because today is the first day of high school for them. "Hey man, morning to ya, let's get ready for the first day of school that will change our lives forever," hollers Frank. "Ay wassup my man, I am ready," yawns Freddy. Freddy is the other twin who helps balance out Frank through thick and thin. Fred starts sitting up rubbing the cole out of his eyes, staring around the room he loves so dearly. His room is covered in orange, purple, and blue representing his three professional teams: The Denver Broncos, The Los Angeles Lakers, and The Los Angeles Dodgers. Freddy also has a video game system which he uses to compete with his brother daily. "No you're not, I know you're nervous as hell," blurted out Frank. "Haha, I ain't gonna lie brotha, I couldn't sleep all night,"chuckled Freddy. Frank looks at his brother with a straight face and says,"Mannn, it is all good dawg, I stared at the ceiling the whole night too".

Both brothers bust out laughing and while doing so the bedroom door starts to creak open. In walks their beautiful mother, Rosie, who comes in singing her daily morning song," Good morning to you/ good morning to you/ we're all in our places/ with bright shiny faces/ now this is the way/ to start a new day". "Hey!!! ,"Good morning beautiful," both brothers shout out to her at the same time. "Morning y'all," says Rosie with a huge smile on her face. "I hope y'all had a good night sleep, and are ready for the first day of high school". "Yes Ma'am," uttered Frank,"is that day ready for us". Freddy chimes in "Ssss, ya Mama we are ready, we both have our gear picked out and we just need your approval". "Ok so since I'm in your room Freddy, I'll check yours first," says Rosie as she calmly walks over to his closet to check his clothes selection. "Ok, just your style Fred: modest, plain and simple," blurts out their mother. "Ay you know me," uttered out Freddy. Lovingly looking at him she says "I do son, I do". "Well let me go check what your brother has going on," says Rosie as her and Frank turn and walk to the other room. "Hey hey now, what do you have cooking up in here my son," blurts out Rosie as she checks Frank's closet for a selection. Frank points out his clothes and while looking through Rosie states,"Nice clothes selection son, they are going to be jealous of you up there. "I know, I know haha," laughs out Frank sarcastically, "I knew you would approve".

The twins mother, Rosie, ia a perfect candidate to judge their clothes because she is a fashion designer herself, for her and husband Kenan's record label, Big Checks. Rosie designs and clothes some of the biggest names in the industry so both boys take any of her suggestions wholeheartedly. "Ok son, I hear you," giggles out Rosie while she is walking to the hallway. Raising her voice for both brothers to hear she says "well I need both of y'all to come meet me downstairs for my world famous breakfast". In saying Rosie turns around and heads downstairs. Both brothers close their bedroom doors so they can get dressed, and go downstairs to sit at the kitchen table with their mother and father. Now the twin's father, Kenan, is a very straight-forward, laid back kind of guy. He is a record producer for his own label, Big Checks, and is one of the top in the business. He is a fun loving, party throwing type of guy who knows how to make his money. The boys and their grumbling stomachs take a seat with their mouths drooling.The perfectly well made breakfast of: pancakes, bacon,and eggs with some fruit on the side, has their attention so much they barely notice their parents sitting there.

"Uh, hello good morning my boys," says Kenan while waiving his hands at his sons. "Oh hey hey good morning Dad," chuckles out the boys together. "Our eyes must have went to our noses," Frank says jokingly. This makes the whole family join in laughter while they hold hands and bow their heads for prayer. "Dear God thank you for waking me and my family up today and blessing us with this lovely food. Please let my boys have a successful first day of school and me and my wife have another successful day of work. We ask and praise you for all these things in Jesus name, Amen." preaches out Kenan. At this moment every family member picks up their fork and begin to eat their meal. "So my boys," blurts out Kenan, "Are y'all ready for your first day of school"? "Yes sir we are a little nervous I ain't gonna lie," says Frank. "Ya Dad we are excited and anxious all at the same time," utters out Freddy. Kenan then grabs both of his son's hands and begins to speak to them compassionately. "Ay my boys listen to this if you never listen to anything else from me, being nervous is natural and I promise y'all all the other kids going to school are nervous on their first day too. Confidence, confidence, confidence is key. I'm talking about confidence in everything y'all do from walking into the classroom, making friends, and especially talking to the ladies. Confidence can be seen and felt so go in there knowing that y'all are the two flyest brothers to grace that school." Immediately both brothers faces light up with huge smiles. "Thanks for that Dad," speaks out Frank,"If those kids at that school don't believe that we are the coolest, then something is horribly wrong. "Ya Pops Frank might have his confidence trait on point, but me I need some work on that because I know I'm not the best looking," says Freddy with a stern look upon his face.

This is a growing problem that Freddy deals with because he is the least attractive fraternal twin and he knows it. This is an issue that the family is aware of with Freddy, so they always try their best to make him feel better about the situation, especially Mama Rosie. "C'mon now my son,"interjects Rosie, "I've always told you don't fall into that hype, you guys are twins and God has put a special woman on this world for the both of you," says Rosie. "Ya brotha I keep telling you man, my only advantage is that I open my mouth and speak to these girls," speaks out Frank. Frank is also aware of their individual appearances, but he strays away from mentioning anything knowing of Freddy's insecurities. "Alright alright y'all two finish up those meals and finish getting ready for your first day, shit y'all need to be worried about those grades and sports anyway," says Kenan with a grin on his face. At this time the boys simultaneously scrape their plates clean and head to the bathroom they share together to brush their teeth. Sharing the bathroom is a constant battle between the brothers because it seems like one is always in there when the other needs to use it. This is one of the few things that causes them to have friction with each other. This particular day they have no problem brushing their teeth together and finalizing the getting ready for school process. While both boys are walking down the stairs their parents are at the door awaiting to send them off to the bus stop."Oh my goodness, my boys are so damn handsome,"says Rosie beaming with a smile on her face. She gives both boys a big hug and kiss on their heads as Kenan follows her lead. "Go get em y'all, and don't get every girl's number all in one day," says Kenan joyfully as they send the boys out of the house and onto their first day of school. Closing the door Rosie can not contain herself and breaks out into tears. "I can't believe our boys are in high school already Kenan, they grew so fast," weeps out Rosie. Kenan wraps his arms around his wife and says to her, "I know baby it's crazy. "We just need to keep doing our good job of raising and supplying for them, the rest will fall into place". The sun is just rising and there is a nice cool breeze outside.

The time is 7:15 A.M.. and the brothers are headed to their bus stop. Along the way they pick up their friend, Nick, who is the same age as the boys. He also has a lot of common interests as them which is the reason both of the brothers consider him their best friend besides themselves. Nick has been the boy's best friend ever since they moved into the neighborhood three years ago. "Wassup Ntune!!!," both brothers shout at him. Ntune is the nickname the brothers have given to Nick over the years. The name comes from Nick and his musical talent as a beat maker hence "Ntune". "Today is the day we've all been talking about," yells out Frank while standing in Nick's driveway. "Yay yay man first day of high school, which is the first day of our real lives," says out Freddy. "Oh I'm ready y'all," speaks out Nick standing at his doorway. "Let's go y'all". Nick walks down, joins the brothers and they all walk down the street to the bus stop. "So y'all I know we are all a little nervous, but luckily we are on the football team so we are at least gonna know some people," says Frank to the others. All three boys are on the freshmen football team. Frank is the quarterback of the team, Freddy is the running back and Nick is a wide receiver on the team. All three boys are very talented athletes. "Ya man lets just get in here and show all these people how cool we are," speaks out Nick. "I second that Ntune," blurts out Frank. "Ay lets just have each others backs no matter what goes on at this school," says Freddy with a stern face."We have to make sure of that," says Frank. The boys walk to a crowded bus stop, where they know a few people and wait on their bus. The trio says their hellos to the ones they know and by this time the school bus pulls up. All of the students get on the bus but there is little to no talk the whole way to school. The reasoning is not known but the speculation is either because it is early in the morning or because it is the first day of school. Whatever the reason it is a very quiet bus ride. Upon arrival the first thing seen is the "Robert Matlock High School" sign and the boys look at each other as almost to say "It's Time".

All of the students exit the bus and the first stop for the trio of boys is the boy's locker room. They walk in there to join some of their teammates who are all shooting the breeze to kill time before their first period starts. Ding, ding, ding, ding, "There goes that first bell y'all," shouts out Frank. "Let's get it in and good luck everybody," yells Nick. At this time everyone leaves the locker room and head out to start their day. The twins walk together because even though they don't have the same first period, their classes are right next to each other. "Love you brotha, lets do this," says Freddy to Frank while they handshake hug each other up before walking in their classrooms. "Love you man," says Frank. Frank's first class is Mrs. Shower's English class, while Freddy's class is also English but his teacher is Mrs. Pollock. Both first periods drag for the brothers and when they meet up afterwards all they could talk about was the cute girls they each had in their classrooms. The boys continue out their day going through periods 2, 3, and 4 until lunch time arrives. "Man, these damn classes ain't going fast enough Fred," says Frank. "You are sure right about that brotha man," replies Fred. "How are things going for you you Ntune?," they both say in unison. "I've been so zoned out on the females around here, I haven't even paid attention to anything," chuckles Nick. "Hahaha you're crazy dawg," says Frank. "Welllll, what we all gonna get for our first lunch of high school". They all look at each other and reply, PIZZA!!! All three boys walk over to the lunch line and get their food. After demolishing their pizzas the boys chop it up in the lunchroom a little longer until the end of lunch bell rings. They each say their goodbyes and head off to their respective fifth period classes.

While walking to his class Frank locks eyes with a beautiful young freshman girl who he can't take his eyes off of. "Hey hey, excuse me. How are you doing on this lovely first day of school?," Fred charmingly asks her. Smiling back at him she says, "I am doing fine, just trying to get through it really". "Yes you are," he says back jokingly. "What is your name if I may ask?" Giggling at his humor she says, "My name is Danielle". Reaching out his hand Frank smiles and says, "Well pleasure to meet you beautiful lady my name is Frank. Do you mind if I walk with you to your next class?" She accepts the offer and says "I don't mind at all, it'd be nice to have some company." Frank begins to walk with her and starts getting to know her better. Upon walking Danielle to her fifth period class Frank discovers that they have the same class. "Wow, you have Mrs. Shaw's history class too that's perfect," exclaims Frank. "What a coincidence," she says "Are you gonna sit by me Frank?" He looks her in the eye and says, "I would be a fool not to". the two enter class, sit next to each other and get their period done and over with. They walk out together continuing their conversation getting more in-depth as time goes. "I have a twin brother I am meeting down by the gym," Frank tells her. "Would you like to meet him?" She looks him in the eyes and says, "Of course." As they walk and talk Frank makes sure to get Danielle's number before he forgets. They walk down to the gym and here is where Frank introduces Danielle to his people. "Hey Danielle this is my twin brother, Fred, sometimes we call him Freddy, and this is Nick, he's both our best friend that we've known for three years now. Guys this is Danielle, I just met her heading to my fifth period," says Frank. At this time all three do their introductory handshakes. "Nice to meet both of you," says Danielle. "Likewise," say both Fred and Nick. "We all meet down here for sixth period because we all have weight training for our last period," explains Frank to Danielle. "No problem, but you owe me a walk to class next time," chuckles Danielle. "Aye, you got it pretty lady," responds Frank. Danielle turns around and heads to her sixth period as the three head to the locker room.

"She sure is a pretty lady," says Nick jokingly. "Yo brotha I ain't gonna lie she is a good looker, you did a good job on that one," says Freddy to Frank. "Thanks y'all that's why I brought her by, so I could get y'all's approval," exclaims Frank. She's cool too but hey lets get this weight training class done and over with". The boys walk into the locker room, go to their lockers and change into their P.E. clothes. Weight training class contains athletes from the football, basketball, baseball, soccer, wrestling, and any other sports teams around the school. The boys go into class where they meet and talk to all the rest of the athletes how their first days went. The first day of class is pretty much sitting around and conversating. After the class the three boys just stay in the locker room and get prepared for football practice. They put on all of their gear except for their shoulder pads and helmet which they carry with them down to the practice field. The three meet up with their teammates and that is when coach Jackson, the freshmen football coach, takes over.

"ALRIGHT GUYS!!!, he yells out, lets all get in line for stretching and warm-ups." The team does their warm-ups and stretching then split off into their individual workouts. Frank splits with the quarterbacks, Freddy with the running backs, and Nick with the wide receivers. Every individual position does their drills offensively and defensively, and then the whole team gets together to scrimmage some of their plays. All three boys are stars on the team and they are depended on to go both ways, defensively Frank and Fred both play cornerbacks for the team and Nick is a safety. The team winds down practice with a cool down stretching session and afterwards they head to the locker room to change. "How was everybody's first day," one teammate yells out. "Man I wish their was just lunch and girls," another says. "HAHAHA," erupts a loud roar of laughter throughout the locker room. "Hey man just be thankful we have a school to be going to," speaks out Frank. "You are always looking at the positive side brotha, but you are definitely right on this one," says Fred. "Let's all just get home safely and make this second day of school better than the first one," blurts out Nick. Slowly all the teammates start to matriculate out of the locker room and they all make their ways home. Rosie picks up the three boys and immediately starts to ask questions about their first day.

"Sooo, how was the first day for you boys?," asks Rosie "let me know something". "It was good Mama," speaks out Frank. High school is a whole new ball game". "Ya Mama it wasn't bad at all, shoot Frank even got himself a new girlfriend," says Freddy. "Ya Mrs. Rice you could see the love in his eyes," laughs out Nick. "Is that right Mr. Franky, let me hear about this new girl of yours," says Rosie. "Hahaha it's nothing Mom, just a cute girl that gave me her number, if it becomes serious I will let you know about her," says Frank with a smile on his face. "Ok, I got you son. What about either one of you two? Any ladies?," asks Rosie. "None for me, just a bunch of looking," blurts out Nick. "Mom c'mon now you know no girl is gonna want to give me the time of day," chimes in Fred. "Well not talking or thinking like that son, you've got to open your mouth and have more confidence in yourself," expresses Rosie. "Ya man like I tell you all the time brotha, the only difference between us is that I open up my mouth and speak," says Frank. "I know, I know I gotta work on myself and I'm trying," says Fred. "Well regardless of anything this is the first day to a new chapter in all y'all lives, you guys need to go and have the best high school experience possible," advises Rosie. "Yes Ma'am," all three boys respond to her. Shortly after they pull into their driveway and they part ways from Nick. "See ya tomorrow man," says Frank. "Have a good night sleep dawg," chimes in Fred. "Ok y'all see y'all in the morning," speaks out Nick. Everybody parts ways and the boys go inside to unwind from the day.
