Frostbit

A long walk across the valley covered with snow. The air is cold but filled with a peaceful chill. The snow is soft, my walk is going well. Although, I am unknowingly walking on a thin sheet of ice. Yet the moment I realize it is too late. Within a second, the ice breaks beneath my feet. The feeling of shock is so severe it takes me a moment to comprehend the severity of the situation. Once understood what was happening, the pain is unsympathetic. The water hits my body like a thousand knives, dragging through my skin. The current pulls me further and further from the surface of life and I am trapped. I can't move. I can't breathe. I can see the light slowly getting dimmer and I know my fate. I search for my will to live as I hope there is some. But there is none. I am okay with what is going to happen. Not because I've lived a good and happy life but simply due to the fact it is time to go somewhere else, somewhere better. Somewhere, anywhere but here.
