Does God bowl? A tumble weed story
When I was in the army I did my advanced individual training at Ft Bliss Texas, that's in Elpaso. Our baracks were in quads, that is they had a square area with the baracks around the parimeter of the square. And it was located at the foot of the Franklin mountain range. Well the wind would come down off the mountains really strong and would sometimes blow things around. Being a desert town there were tumble weeds that grew on the mountain side and every now and then they would blow into our area. Well one day a few of us were standing out in the wind and across the quad was a guy leaning backward against the wind and it was blowing so constant and strong that it was holding him up! It was interesting to see but then I noticed that some of the guys were watching something up on the mountain and I looked to see what they were seeing. Way up near the top there was a tumble weed rolling down the mountain about a mile away and it was coming toward us. Now there are many bushes and rocks and dips and even a fence that was incomplete on that mountain and then a building. But that tumble weed dodged everything on the way down we looked at the tumble weed then at the guy leaning in the wind back and forth we looked as it got closer and closer. And as it got closer we could see how big it was! It had to be at least six feet tall and it dodged the bushes and went through the break in the fence and got past the building! No one said word as we watched and you could feel everyones tension and hear everyones thoughts " Is gonna hit him!?" and then BAM! A strike! It rolled over him knocking him flat! We all had a good laugh and the guy didn't get hurt and we all learned to not goof off so much that you are not aware of what is going on around us! LOL
