You just want to be playing your best basketball of the season right now. We still have to take care of business at McFarland and go from there. As tough as the Badger South is, I hope that will help us come tournament time.

The clubs voted overwhelmingly in favor of the World Baseball Classic. It also has the full support of our partners, the Major League Baseball Players Association and the International Baseball Federation. The Clubs, the MLBPA and the IBAF all realize that the goal of the tournament -- to grow the game and to increase interest in the sport worldwide -- is in the long-term best interests of the game.

We started the week with the dedication of the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic Medical Building in our honor on the campus of the Eisenhower Medical Center, and we are thrilled to be ending the week with the announcement of a continuation of our 42-year relationship with Chrysler during which we have raised nearly $42 million for charity in our community. I remember that coaching strategy we employed. Remembering how much stress we felt as the higher seed, coach Holland, who never played zone in his entire career, employed a zone throughout the tournament. And it was a huge help because people did not shoot the ball well because their players were uncomfortable with all the pressure of trying to move on.

We thought we would do the Tiger Woods bit, because he always wears red on the final day of a tournament.

It's such a great thing, it's something that needed to be done. There has been so much negative stuff going on with baseball. We need to represent our country proudly and with respect. This tournament is a playoff atmosphere, except it has people being proud of their heritage. It's awesome.

Once people start playing the game, they're going to forget we're not in the NCAA Tournament and just play basketball, because that's what we do.

A lot of lower-seeded teams have senior leadership, and they can be really tough in the pressure situations you get in the NCAA Tournament. At the end of the day, experience can carry you over the sheer athletic ability of younger players.

We understand the sign, but we also understand that the U.S. is counting on us to win this tournament. Yankee fans do expect to see Jeter, A-Rod, myself and Bernie Williams there, but with the Classic going on they had to lose some players for some time.

The two games in the tournament, I've been aggressive inside. If I get the ball and can't take it inside on a dribble, I can kick it back out.

I train myself mentally with visualization. The morning of a tournament, before I put my feet on the floor, I visualize myself making perfect runs with emphasis on technique, all the way through to what my personal best is in practice.... The more you work with this type of visualization, especially when you do it on a day-to-day basis, you'll actually begin to feel your muscles contracting at the appropriate times.

It was a lot different this year not having the automatic bid. We'll bring a whole new attitude and level of energy to the tournament. This is when we should be playing our best.

The past week our bullpen threw a lot, especially with the doubleheaders in the (Rainbow) tournament, and we have five games this weekend, so I figure if I can finish the game off, I can give 'em a little rest so they can go out and get the next four games.
